About me
I am a mental wellness counselor licensed in Ohio, Colorado, and Montana, currently residing in Ohio, with 20 years of experience working as a counselor in community-based settings. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, impulse-control disorders including substance use, and Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.
I utilize family systems concepts in my practice with clients. This draws on the work of Murray Bowen, Gregory Bateson, et. al, and also Virginia Satir. I use a didactic approach within a nondirective style. My focus is on the family and what can be changed to strengthen the family to overcome conflict and adversity.
I hope to assist you and your family in this process of better functioning and improved relationships!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for John Engebretson. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
John is listens and allows us to get our feelings out and provides his professional advice along the way. He has been very helpful setting realistic expectations on how the relationship can get better.
John is an excellent listener!
John was very helpful with different tools and guidance. He was a clear communicator and I recommend him.
John Engebretson is my favorite therapist!
My husband and I have had 3 sessions with John. I like that he opens the door to discuss issues we're dealing with and pointing out things we are doing well and what needs work. I like he gives us homework. Simple worksheets to complete during the week to open discussions for the next session or what we could work on. This has helped my husband and I talk more about them before and after our session.
