About me
Intimate relationships can be both deeply rewarding and inherently challenging. Difficulties often arise around communication, validation, intimacy, and maintaining individual independence. At times, these challenges may feel overwhelming or even insurmountable. Healing within a relationship is an ongoing process that requires consistent effort, open communication of thoughts and feelings, and the provision of reassurance and security in the commitment between partners.
I bring 10 years of post-education clinical counseling experience, including 7 years working specifically with couples. My preferred approach combines Psychodynamic principles with Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). In the initial phase of couples therapy, including our first session, I guide couples in identifying their shared needs while also exploring individual issues, such as attachment difficulties or unresolved childhood experiences, through a psychodynamic lens.
All therapeutic approaches are tailored to meet the unique clinical needs of each couple, with the goal of guiding them toward achieving their relationship objectives. I assign exercises for couples and individuals to practice the skills discussed in sessions, and I also facilitate practice during our meetings to ensure these skills are effectively integrated into the couple’s dynamic.
The couples therapy journey is structured around clear, progressive goals, building from one session to the next. My primary aim is to help each individual enhance their capacity for compassion, understanding, validation, active listening, and empathy—both toward themselves and toward their partner.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Yovani Hernandez. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
Very helpful and strategic in how she helps couples meet their goals.
Yovani has helped immensely with my relationship with my husband. She has helped us see different perspectives to our conflicts and tools we can use in our discussions or just day to day. I can say joining couple therapy has been life changing for my relationship and hope everyone can get to try it. It’s going to be a lot of work from both sides, but if both are willing to put in the work, it will transform your relationship for the better.
Very nice and understanding!
Yovani is personable, professional, well educated and experienced. She is practical and straightforward. We have greatly appreciated her views and expertise.
Yovani is very great at what she does. She listens and is empathetic. Can’t wait for our 2nd session and going forward!
Best therapist!
