My name is Whitney Keefner and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Philadelphia, PA area as well as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I graduated from the University of Vermont in 2018 with a Dual Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. I have experience working with children and their families as a family unit, working in crisis settings as well as providing individual therapy to children, adolescents and adults in underserved communities. My experience working with couples have involved couples who are parents, and whom are striving to balance their role as parents with also being romantic partners with each other.
My central approach is Person-Centered Therapy, wherein I hold Empathy, Congruence and Unconditional Positive Regard in the forefront of my work with clients. I also hold the tenants of Narrative Therapy close to my work, wherein as you experience life events, you give meaning to those experiences and they, in turn, influence how you see yourself and the world. I view the therapy process as a privilege for me as the therapist to have the opportunity to join you in your journey, to be someone to provide supportive counseling, to facilitate skill-building, to provide feedback as well as to gently challenge you along the way.
Therapy is a collaborative process wherein we together identify your goals and hopes for our time together, as well as can take turns in who takes the lead in our conversations during any given session. You are invited to have as much autonomy as you want throughout this process and in controlling the direction of where we head together. It would be an honor for me to be able to join you in this particular chapter of your journey.

Whitney has provided a safe and welcoming space for my husband and me to be open and work through issues in our marriage. Whitney listens, affirms, and allows the both of us to speak our minds. She has been a great resource for us and the progress we have seen I feel is facilitated and encouraged by her. We are very grateful we ended up in sessions with her.
So far I have only had one meeting with Whitney and from what I can tell she really wants to help my partner and I fix some of our problems. And I like that she gives us good feedback
