I am a licensed professional counselor in Oklahoma. I received a Bachelor of Science from Southern Nazarene University in Family Studies and Gerontology and a Masters of Human Relations with the emphasis of Licensed Professional Counseling from The University of Oklahoma. I have experience with adults, families, and groups. I have worked with those struggling with mild to severe mental illness as well as those individuals who are struggling with issues including depression, grief & loss, abuse/neglect, addictions with dual diagnosis, behavioral problems, bipolar, schizophrenia & psychotic disorders and parenting problems. I adapt my counseling style to each couple. However, within my experience, I have noticed that couples are more adaptable to me utilizing a counseling style of family system theory approach. This theory focuses on the family/couple rather than the individual. I am a very transparent-honest-caring individual in my day to day life and I bring that trait to each session with the belief that in doing so, the couple feels more at ease with being honest as issues and challenges are being processed. I believe everyone deserves respect and compassion as well as the opportunity to have added support when needed. My approach/style combines cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused brief therapy, narrative therapy, and client-centered….just to name a few. A couple's treatment plan and the direction of the sessions will be tailored to meet the couple's needs.
- Stress, Anxiety
- Coping with life changes
I also have experience in LGBT, Relationship issues, Family conflicts, Trauma and abuse, Intimacy-related issues, Parenting issues, Self esteem, Bipolar disorder

We’ve tried to talk to several counselors over the years, and I’ve not felt comfortable opening up about things with my husband and I. Valerie has changed that. I feel comfortable talking to her, she doesn’t just listen and ask me what I think I should do, (if I knew that, I wouldn’t be seeking counseling..) she actually has exercises to practice, and gives me a different perspective on situations. That’s a feat with someone that can be as stubborn as I.
Valerie is a great help! She is easy to talk to, listens to what we have to say, and offers practical advice and encouragement. My husband and I have learned to communicate more effectively and our marriage continues to improve.
Valerie has helped me and my husband work through some big life transitions, and I know we have learned so much about working together as a couple thanks to her help. She's honest and sincere in her approach, and she allows us to work on every aspect of our relationship.
Valerie is blunt and to the point. Very refreshing and helpful. She is great!!
She is awesome
Valerie helps you understand your problems and work with you on better ways to handle those problems to avoid those situations that cause them. She is patient, understanding and nonjudgmental. She makes you feel comfortable. Very good person and counselor. I definitely love working with her. After just a few sessions I started writing down things to help me through. Worth it! Thanks, Valerie Steele and Regain, for this helpful program. I would've never walked into a therapy office.
Honest and supportive.
Valerie has been a tremendous help to me and my family. The issues I have encountered the past few months I don't think I could've handled without her assistance. She is exceptionally knowledgeable, kind and doesn't shy away from saying what needs to be said. She's definitely one of the good ones!!
I enjoy being able to be transparent with Valerie and not feel like I am being judged. She is very thoughtful and conscientious in her words of advice. She works with both my bf and I in ways she doesnt have to, but is to help us hopefully continue our relationship. I know if we come out on the other side of our issues, it will be because of her. Right now, she is the glue keeping us together, I am eternally grateful for help.
