About me

I hold a Master of Science degree in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I also hold a Master of Science degree in Computer Science with over 30 years of software engineering experience. I have counseled clients at Family Time Foundation, The Women’s Home, The Houston Galveston Institute, Covenant House Shelter, Banyan Counseling, and Cypress Creek Hospital, Bloom Counseling & Family Service, National Smart Heathcare Services, Red Oak Psychiatry Associates PA, as well as in private practice. I have work hundreds of couples on issues such as communication, parenting, relationship problems, intimacy, infidelity, separation, divorce, blending families, and many other issues. I believe relationships are living things that require ongoing effort and nurturing to survive. Events in life often hinder that process; communication, compassion, and giving to each other are critical but very difficult at times. Having a third party, able to see both sides without judgement, often helps in navigating and resolve these issues.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process between the therapist and both partners. We work together to find solutions to the issues and concerns that brought you to therapy. I see my job as listening without bias or judgement, helping you to dig deeper to identify the issues that are coming between you, working with you to find solutions, and then coaching and advising to make those solutions happen. I strongly believe it is important to focus on learning new ways to find success and happiness in life rather than to dwell on the past. I tend to look forward and focus on solutions. That doesn’t mean that the past doesn’t matter or that you can’t address the hurt and pain of your past – I will listen and I will HEAR your story and help you process it. Finally, communication is often at the root of relationship issues; this is an area I often focus on. We would address ways to express feelings without hurting each other, disagreeing without being disagreeable, getting your point across, being heard, etc.
