About Me

Practice Profile: TERI NIELSEN, LMHC, LPC
A forward-thinking, seasoned therapist with 30 years of clinical experience working with adults, couples, adolescents, children, and families.

I’m licensed in the states of Washington, Arizona, and Utah. I maintain an independent therapy office specializing in anxiety, depression, past abuse recovery, stress disorders, addictions & recovery, PTSD/post-trauma recovery, grief/loss, life changes & transitions. The heart of my work is with couples because although the intimate partnership can at times be the most challenging, it also offers the greatest potential for consciousness, growth, and healing.

I have experience with high-functioning professionals, college students, people who have been in therapy for years but seek a more sensible approach. I work with therapists. I also work with people new to therapy who wish to build a solid foundation moving forward for their emotional health. The heart of what I do is create and protect the space for my clients to address personal issues and whatever barriers may be keeping them from moving forward in their lives. I protect the space for the important conversations helping each articulate their highest goals both for themselves and for the relationship.

With couples I use John Gottman’s work. I always weave an element of psych/education throughout our work because I believe this helps you apply what we’re doing in therapy on your own. I provide both short-term and long-term therapy. Most of the couples I work with have strong and healthy relationships. They use me when an issue comes up, and they sign up for a series. I have some couples I've worked with for many years. They call me when a life issue comes up and they know they have a trusted, independent and objective support.

I have deep respect for personal struggles. I also have great confidence in the therapeutic process based on the transformations I’ve witnessed in the lives of the men, women, and young people with whom I’ve been privileged to work. If you decide to work with me, bring your grit and your honesty, a touch of humor, and most importantly a strong commitment to yourselves. I’m here to help.

Teri was great! She really took time to get to the root of our relationship and help us work through issues in a way that sets us up for success on our own. We would recommend her!

We are so happy that we got Teri. She is wonderful, and seems to “ get “ our family. I swear she is a healer of the soul.

Teri was great. My relationship didn’t stand a chance with this COVID crisis going on.

My husband and I enjoyed working with Teri. She is calm, thoughtful, experienced and, most importantly, non-judgmental. With her support and accountability we were able to successfully work through some issues and are feeling more connected. Thanks Teri!
