About me

I am a family and counselor licensed in Michigan with over 30 years of experience working as a counselor and therapist. I have helped clients work through a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and challenges relating to aging, caring for aging family members, and managing end-of-life issues. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma and substance abuse challenges. In addition, I have developed and implemented a program to help people working through eating disorders.

My counseling style is warm , interactive, and very flexible. I believe that everyone is unique and I embrace the diversity of people that I meet and work with. My philosophy is that everyone is entitled to be treated with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and psychodynamic counseling. I firmly believe that your needs drive our dialog and treatment. My role is to help steer and navigate based on what we discover together.

Change is difficult and it can be overwhelming. It takes courage to take the steps and make changes to seek a more fulfilling and happier life. If you are ready to embrace the change and take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you on your journey!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Suzanne Johnson-Grace. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.

A therapist who doesn't get caught up in what you say, but what it attaches to. In couple's therapy she is less concerned with mending the relationship and keeping couples together, and more focused on finding the root of issues, and exploration. For us that leads down a path of continuous healing from infidelity, but it might mean something else for you, and Suzanne has never made us feel like she had a preference. It's our journey and she's there to help us have hard conversations that get us where we want to go.

Suzanne has a very intuitive undestanding of human relationships. She knows how to facilitate communication and being able to sit with and express our feelings.
We are still at the relatively early stages but we can see the results we were looking after, mainly being able to reconnect and make space for our relationship given our busy lives as new parents. I’ve found our individual sessions helpful as well. I would encourage anyone to take advantage of couples therapy even just to strengthen existing relationships early on, and not wait until issues build up over time.

Our experience with Suzanne has been transformative, significantly improving our communication and strengthening our bond. Suzanne's empathetic and professional approach created a safe space for us to explore and share our feelings. These led to fewer misunderstandings and a deeper connection. Tailoring her methods to our relationship dynamics, Suzanne not only addressed our immediate challenges but also laid a foundation for long-term relationship health. We highly recommend Suzanne to any couples seeking to enhance their relationship.

No frills. Gets right to work on getting to know us, the issue(s), and talking about it/them

Right out of the box, Suzanne seems to be a good fit for my husband and me. We are excited to be moving forward with more sessions with her.

Suzanne is a very good listener. She picks up on subtleties and knows when to elaborate on something. We feel that she is very fair and she knows how to give couples some space to talk to one another while also directing the conversation productively. She doesn’t pick sides, so it’s easy to trust her and feel that we are both being heard.

Suzanne is a very caring professional councilor. She listens very well and asks the right questions at the right time to help me think more clearly about my issues.

I like the way Suzanne rephrases our comments to be sure she heard what we thought we said and also how she confirms with the other partner regarding if they agree/how they feel about what the other partner said. She is really helping us to open up and talk more openly with each other, which was our goal
