About me
My name is Sherry Farrell. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I earned a bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University in Clinical Psychology and went on to earn a Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco. My story is unique in that I worked in the field of psychology for roughly 5 years and then turned to teaching young people while raising my own children. This allowed me to gain a broad understanding of how children and families operate in a clinical, educational and social setting. I am now prepared to take this knowledge and apply it once again toward my work with clients.
I worked in a clinical setting with a variety of families and couples dealing with issues such as addiction, mood disorders, parenting challenges, infidelity, divorce and blending families. I have witnessed how parenting children can be a source of great joy for a couple but also a cause for conflict that might not otherwise exist. Instead of bringing them closer, it pulls them apart. I have also helped couples navigate the stress of disabilities. Illness, caring for aging parents and accommodating adult children returning home.
I thoroughly enjoy meeting couples and learning about their journey and what ultimately led them to couples counseling. I value a relationship built on respect, compassion, understanding, safety and empowerment. I believe it is absolutely imperative that the therapist remain neutral and allow each person to have the space to express and process their feelings safely. I enjoy working as a team to tackle difficult, uncomfortable issues in order to find a way back to the love and excitement that bonded this couple in the beginning.
I know that seeking couples counseling can bring up feelings of fear, uncertainty, failure and anxiety for the future. I am hoping that once we commit to this journey together, we can find ways to work through the pain and unhappiness and move toward a place of hope, renewal, relief and joy. I can't wait to get started!

The best
Sherry is not just a great therapist but a great human being. She always listens first before speaking and allows us to lead the conversation. She finds little things for us to focus on that often lead to bigger results.
Sherry is very kind, attentive, and a wonderful listener. We value her opinions and advice very much. Highest of praise for Sherry.
She is very good at listening and giving advice. I felt heard and appreciated sessions with her. She was very good at responding to my messages outside of our scheduled times and worked hard to accommodate me even if it was in between meetings
Sherry is such a great listener. She offers great suggestions that have helped me tremendously. She works with me when my schedule changes unexpectedly, can’t thank her enough for that! She’s truly great at her job.
Sherry is a great communicator and really helps facilitate discussions that are otherwise difficult to have with my spouce, I think she's been very helpful for our relationship thus far.
