About me
Education and Credentials
I began my academic journey in 2003, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. In 2018, I completed my Master of Arts degree in Counseling at Wake Forest University. This program is accredited by the American Counseling Association’s Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the nationally recognized agency for counseling graduate programs.
Theoretical Orientation
My counseling approach integrates principles from Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. In each session, I strive to create an environment characterized by unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness. I am dedicated to guiding clients through the exploration of their feelings and thoughts, and collaboratively developing solutions. Together, we will craft a plan that addresses your immediate needs and supports your long-term growth and well-being.
Counseling Background
My professional journey began in nursing, where I recognized a significant gap in holistic healthcare, particularly in mental health. This realization motivated my transition to counseling, where I aim to make a lasting impact on my clients’ lives. I bring over 12 years of experience and specialized training in various areas, including Grief and Loss Counseling, Trauma Counseling, Premarital Counseling, and Group Counseling. My background includes working with terminally ill patients, military members and their families, individuals with alternative sexual lifestyles, trauma survivors, and the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), enhancing my ability to support clients through trauma and other mental health challenges.
By combining my diverse background and extensive training, I am committed to providing compassionate, effective, and personalized care to each of my clients.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Sherrita Ried. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
We feel safe, seen and heard with Sherrita. She gives very helpful impulses, we only been in session with her twice now, but definitely looking forward. Would 100% recommend her
Sherrita asks the important questions, listens to your responses and somehow can tell when there's something you're not saying. I absolutely recommend consulting with her.
Ms. Ried's expertise in getting to underlying issues and ability to both listen and challenge thoughts in a balanced way are invaluable.
She is the best!
Sherrita makes content digestible and relatable. She is very intuitive with her ability to see the core of the issue and directly in addressing the issues in her planned sessions. The one improvement I would suggest would be to consider being observant with peoples reactions and emotions and making sure to give space and assist in addressing them during the sessions. The only other consideration is having longer sessions if needed, but we haven’t felt a need for it thus far.
I couldn’t be happier with my therapist. She is compassionate she is compassionate and attentive. She’s methodical and professional at every turn. I couldn’t be happier with being a sign to her I’ll give her a 10 out of 10 five stars and 100%.
Mrs Reid has been very helpful to us and immensely supported us through a terrible period. I recommend her 100%.
I have only had two sessions but she really listened to me and is very understanding and compassionate
My husband and I just started getting sessions with Mrs.Ried so I don’t have a ton of feedback, however, from what I have experienced I am very excited for what’s to come. My partner and I are giving our union another chance and Mrs. Ried has been leading us in the right direction so far.
