About me

Each individual is unique in determining the value of their life. The unique essence is based on life experiences and thoughts about these experiences. This determines the multidimensional and in-depth characterization of how one maneuvers through life challenges. I offer the opportunity to unleash the power of how thoughts can be structured to overcome unfortunate life situations and experiences, rather than allowing thoughts to channel a life toward destruction. Through self-empowerment of regulating, refuting and redirecting thoughts open the doorway of emotional healing processes and prevent being emotionally harmed for life. I offer psychotherapeutic techniques and insights to conquer emotional challenges, but more importantly to chart life journeys to better horizons. My counseling emphasizes life is a choice and no one has to be a product of their environment, but a product of their choices and decisions. I am the product of a Christian-Faith Based family.

As a Psychotherapist with over five decades devoted to behavioral science and helping others, I have provided help to an array of couples and individuals experiencing emotional difficulties from various backgrounds and causes. I hear each individuals' hurt and pain and process with my heart, which means having an empathic understanding.

I specialize in couples/marital counseling. I do not practice by "pointing the fingers" because this type of mindset only enhance the problem(s). I address several factors to include, forgiveness, regaining trust, anger management, etc. The goal is to seek reconciliation and bring forth the essence of those emotional determinants that existed in the onset of the relationship.

I also provide divorce counseling. This include the resolutions of the above unhealthy factors with the primary focus on co-parenting if children are involved. This mean the children should not be placed in the middle of their parents issues, but to reach an understanding they are not divorcing their children, but one another. If this parental joint understanding is not reached, it could emotionally injure their children for life. The children should not be placed in having to choose their love for their parents.

Dr. Gillispie is absolutely phenomenal! He truly took the time to listen to our concerns and worked diligently to uncover the root causes of our challenges. Not only did he help us resolve relational issues, but he also encouraged us to prioritize ‘dating’ one another and maintaining open, honest communication. His advice beautifully emphasized the importance of our faith and the well-being of our children, making his guidance both practical and deeply meaningful. We’re so grateful for his support!

We love Dr Gillispie! He is very attentive and has helped us grow closer. We are able to work on the small things that has kept us from growing closer for years. We are even making time to date again and really understanding our love languages.
