About Me

"At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can." -Frida Kahlo

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida after earning a Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University. I have held various positions in the helping field for over 13 years, and have 10 years of clinical experience working with diverse populations and ages-including children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in serving those who have experienced trauma-including, but not limited to: sexual and physical abuse, intimate partner violence, death, grief & loss, incarceration of loved one, and involvement with the foster care system. Furthermore, every couple is unique and I have a passion to provide therapy to couples in order that they may resolve relationship issues they may bring into counseling.

Whether we experience life’s “big T or little t” traumas, avoiding the impact related to the darkness in this world is unfortunately nearly impossible and navigating through the aftermath can be complex and daunting. It is courageous of you to seek services to enhance your quality of life. I am passionate about personal empowerment of the individual and helping people find light and hope, in order to live their best and most fulfilled lives. It is through becoming our best self that we become better partners.

I believe there is both an art and science to therapy. My style is casual, yet professional and ethical, which means that I want to get to know you as a person and understand what challenges you are experiencing in order to partner with you to develop individualized treatment goals. This will be a You-centered therapy experience. I am also creative, therefore, my approach is eclectic-including psychoeducation (i.e. symptoms, parenting, etc), talk therapy methods such as, CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems (parts work) and Mindfulness (along with Art Therapy techniques) interventions, so I look forward to exploring and adjusting to what style best meets your needs and personality. I am also certified as a Level 1 EMDR trained Therapist, if you are interested in this type of therapeutic approach. I am empathic, and direct, which may challenge you to extend yourself beyond what you believed about yourself/the situation. My desire is to create a safe space for you to process and grow; to be a guide for you to identify your own strengths to move you to the next season of your life.

My own story and spirituality inspire me to engage in this work; however, it is important to understand that I do not impose my personal beliefs, as I pride myself on professionalism. I am available to incorporate Christian counseling if you are seeking this type of approach.

I look forward to meeting you and your partner. I am honored to partner with you both and being on this healing journey with you!

“When we deny the story, it defines us. When we own the story, we can write a brave new ending.”– Brene´ Brown

Rachel has been a great support system for us. Hasn't been long, but we are already noticing major changes for us and deeper understanding of each other. Highly recommend.

I really enjoy how much Rachel has been helping me and my fiancée. She’s very down to earth, understanding and wise.
