About me

Welcome to you both! I want you to know I am glad you reached out for help, that is courageous and wise. Doing something different is fundamental to change. You are right to hope that things can change and will get better. There is not really a typical problem. I treat people, not diagnoses and couples are just people with problems, who happen to be closely connected and living together.

Mine is a client-centered approach, emphasizing strengths-based and goal-focused therapies. My role is in providing a safe space to explore your experience. As everyone’s journey is different we will explore where you’re at, where you feel you want to go, and what works for you. This may require a little thinking outside the box, using your creativity in the process.

Here is a little information about me. I graduated in 2009 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Since then, I have worked in a variety of positions treating a diverse range of issues, most recently as a substance abuse counselor. As co-occuring issues can predate and accompany addiction, I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I have assisted many couples. There is an arsenal of evidence-based therapies like CBT, DBT, REBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness and other approaches that can come into play. It’s not really the therapy offered, as they all have been proven to work, rather it’s the honesty, willingness and open-mindedness of the couple that makes the difference. What I take away from clients is they are people who just want to be happy.

In my experience, I can guarantee, though it will be tough and wrenching at times, individually and ideally as a couple you will benefit from our journey.
Now is your opportunity to use the present moment to grow into happiness. So, what’s going on with you, why have you sought out help?

Philip immediately gave my partner and me valuable tools and support that led to results in our relationship. He has been a very helpful resource for both of us.

We’ve only had one session with Philip, but he was very understanding. Listened to both of our concerns and provided valuable insight based on his expertise and own experience. It was much appreciated.

Philip is great. He fully understands my concerns and if he doesn’t then looks more into situations like mine to better understand for our next session. Glad we got paired up, finally found one that understands.
