About me

Hi, I'm Patrick. I'm the father of two and partner of one, so when I'm not counseling I'm either spending time with my family I'm engaging in one of several hobbies that provide enjoyment or help me cope with stress. Besides being a book and movie nerd, I like to write essays, stories and poetry, play guitar, train for 5K runs and occasionally travel or go camping.

I've practiced counseling as a therapist, as an educator and as a crisis specialist. Although my degree is from the University of North Texas, I've learned much of my current set of skills from the experience of counseling clients and through specific training and workshops aimed at improving myself professionally. As a therapist, I tend to be very relaxed and down to earth, coming alongside clients to help them at situations that feel like dead ends or like they are in a fog with no clear direction in sight.

Although I practice counseling with both individuals and their families, I've usually found that aspects of individual counseling are related to the loved ones in their lives. Usually there are problems with communication and boudaries, but sometimes they also involve peripheral issues such as illness, sexuality or other concerns. Often, it helps couples for an outside party to sit beside alongside them and lend a perspective that they may not easily see, or to be that person whose presence and listening allows them communicate their needs to their partner.

I enjoy listening to client stories and am comfortable entering into family conflict. My experience has been that I am usually able to help partners isolate important issues and help work toward helpful solutions.

In addition to being a warm and personable therapist, Patrick has really taken the time to understand my fiance and I and our concerns. He listens to both of us and makes sure he hears us and we hear each other. Our situation is a little unusual, and Patrick took that into consideration when deciding how he wanted to approach use as a therapist. The activities he has us do are both relevant and informative, and show he's paying attention to our relationship.

Although we’ve only just started with Patrick, my husband and I feel Patrick is genuine and real in our sessions. Patrick has an easy going nature and actively listens to all of our concerns. He seems to prioritize being a nice human first which means all of his interactions are palpably honest. I highly recommend Patrick to anyone wanting to build trustworthy rapport with their therapist.

Patrick is everything you want in a therapist. He listens, shares his suggestions and gives honest feed back. He has a wealth of expertise and experience. Most of all his personality makes it easy to open up and trust him. Very grateful that we have been paired with him.

Patrick has been a great therapist and is really well balanced in our couples therapy. We both feel heard and understood and were just a few sessions in. He’s not just a great therapist but, seems like a pretty stand up guy in general! Thanks Patrick!

We have only had two sessions with Patrick, I feel engaged and supported by Patrick, he makes one feel at ease and listens well, providing valued input.. But as we are early on this journey it is hard to give a comprehensive review at this point...
