About me

Hi,

My name is Patrice Stevens. I have been providing therapy to Clients in the state of Texas for over 30 years. I have always enjoyed couples counseling and I have received feedback from my Clients that their experience was not only helpful, but at times, therapy was life-changing. Seeking counseling can help your relationship to heal and allow you to realize that your problems can be overcome.

Many couples experience similar issues and seek counseling. If you and your partner are struggling, it may be simply a result of poor communication. Other relationship problems that lead couples to therapy include emotional distance, intimacy, affairs, betrayal, and past traumas that did not heal. Despite these problems, there are solutions to each of them.

To know if counseling is needed for your relationship, it is essential to highlight the importance of recognizing the core issues you are facing in your relationship. Identifying the problems in your relationship can be done by discussing the patterns of conflict you experience together, as well as taking the time to address each other’s needs.

First step would be to engage each Client individually to (1) identify Client’s strengths and weaknesses, (2) develop a picture of the relationships Client has had in the past (3) prepare a list of issues from Client’s perspective that have created difficulties in relationships with others and (5) establish the goals that each Client would like to accomplish during the counseling process.

The next step would be to sit down with you and your partner to discuss the differences and similarities regarding perspective on strengths, weaknesses, difficulties in past relationships, and goals for therapy. At this point we combine and condense the list of issues to focus on and we set our goals for the therapeutic process.

My counseling style is best described as compassionate, accepting, fair, direct, straightforward, solutions-oriented, and motivated to help Client's achieve their therapeutic goals. I see my role as the individual entrusted to help my Clients face their fears and embrace radical acceptance of Self.

My Clients are ideally positioned to develop effective coping skills and facilitate the changes they want in their lives. Every session is about moving Clients toward the goals they have established with me.
It can be frightening to take the first steps to engage with a therapist you have never met. It may be helpful to understand that I am experienced and well versed in the process of healing and facilitating change.

My goal is to help you, as individuals and as a couple, and my role is to guide you both. You and I will work as a team and be in partnership regarding the direction of your counseling as well as specific goals for treatment. I look forward to working with you ! Please take the first step toward the process of healing and change! We can do this together!

Amazing therapist! Her insight and expertise in trauma and abuse allowed myself and my husband to communicate effectively and diffuse triggers/ emotions that didn’t serve purpose in conversation.

Patrice is wonderful to work with. She is very goal-oriented and helps to keep myself and my partner on track. She maintains a calm, empathetic container for therapy and is professional yet candid. Her style works well for me and my partner. I appreciate her comprehensive understanding of therapy practices which allows her to create a dynamic plan of attack when confronting unique issues. Overall, my only regret working with Patrice is that she is so far away because I often wish I could give her a big hug of gratitude.

Work with me!
