About me
I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California since 2006. I have 23 years of professional work experience. I work with adults ages 18 and older, including individuals and couples from diverse cultural, ethnic, spiritual, and relationship backgrounds.
I have experience helping clients across a broad spectrum of concerns ranging from mindfulness, anxiety disorders, depression, grief and loss, compassion fatigue, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions to crisis management, homelessness, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and overall coping with life challenges.
I am heart centered with a warm approach and make every effort to help my clients reconnect with what matters most to them in their lives. I work with couples across many stages of their relationships, helping partners improve communication, navigate conflict, clarify emotional needs and values, and thoughtfully explore decisions related to healing the relationship, separation, or moving forward in healthier and more authentic ways.
I have experience working with veterans, military families during deployment, LGBTQIA+ clients, multicultural populations, and diverse relationship structures. I am open minded, value compassion and respect, and am well versed in theology, spirituality, mindfulness, and multicultural perspectives. I have an understanding of the struggles of immigrants and a deep respect for the importance of multicultural and ethnic integration within our society. I believe in treating everyone with dignity, sensitivity, and compassion.
I speak English, French, Lebanese Arabic, and some Spanish; however, I conduct therapy sessions exclusively in English. I have traveled and lived in multiple countries. Having survived war and major life transitions personally, I understand resilience, trauma, and the healing potential of mindfulness, meditation, emotional growth, and human connection.
My approach is informed by Mindfulness, Meditation, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while remaining flexible and tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals. I have also found that reading, reflection, and skill-building homework can be powerful additions to the therapeutic process. I tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
In addition to my clinical work, I am also the author and illustrator of Being With Heart: How to Thrive in Life With A Tender Heart, a project reflecting many of the values I bring into therapy, including compassion, resilience, emotional healing, and mindfulness.
Taking the first step toward a more fulfilling and meaningful life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process. Thank you for reaching out to me. I look forward to working with you in therapy.
