About me

Hello, I am pleased to introduce myself to you. My name is Dr. Pamela Vernon Stewart. I hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Health Psychology. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in the State of Illinois. I earned my degrees (B.S., M.A. and Psy.D.) at Loyola University and the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Some of my experience includes hospital practice, residential facilities and outpatient clinics.

I believe in a holistic biopsychosocial approach to assessment and treatment that attends to the client’s mind, body and spirit. My therapy style for couples’ therapy is integrative (psycho-dynamic, behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, Emotion Focused Therapy, and so on) collaborative and client-centered at the core. My therapeutic style is interactive and driven by warmth and empathy. Stalwart ethical principles guide me.

Are you experiencing a block in communication with your spouse or significant other? Is your home quiet now, compared to talkative and exciting in the past? Are there stressors in your life that you want to talk to your spouse about, but can’t find the words? Are you avoiding each other as you walk around your home? Do you think your significant other is cheating? Are you arguing rather than smiling? We all experience life changes or transitions in our development that affect our relationships? Couples counseling offers you the amazing opportunity to discover, renew and explore each other’s love language (communication style), find out what works for you and what does not, how to expedite repair in your relationship and how to advance together in a refreshing and thriving relationship.

I have five years of intensive experience covering a wide range of couples’ difficulties. Frustration, anger and resentment can build up, masking the love that lies beneath. In therapy I will help you to identify the interactive patterns that are not working for you and build new ones that do. Moreover, I will help you to connect with your own emotional intelligence and create a plan that works uniquely for you both
.
I applaud you for seeking help. This takes strength and courage.

I look forward to a rich clinical therapeutic experience with you.

With great enthusiasm,

Pam Stewart, Psy.D., CADC, LCPC

Dr. Vernon is knowledgable and give us tools to help us work through our issues. My husband and I both feel like we are heard and never feel judged. She remembers things we said in previous sessions which helps to tie up loose ends and every issue is treated with dignity and respect. We highly recommend her!

We love Dr. Pam. She listens and knows both of our needs and is very attentive to them. She goes above and beyond each and every session. We highly recommend Dr. Pam!

I did appreciate Dr. Stewart taking time out to meet with us , however I do not believe the meeting was successful productive or satisfactory. She appear to be more interested in my fiancé and his background, then us and our relationship. She asked him particular questions about his ex , his children his age and occupation but none about myself . None at all , she even asked him his ex wife name which I found no merit to that question at all . Overall, I did not feel heard and do not know if I want to meet with her again .

It’s hard to put into words what Dr. Pam has done for me and my husband. Her calm and supportive demeanor allow us to open up and trust her with our thoughts and feelings. I’m so grateful for her!
