About me

A warm hello and congratulations on taking this important step in improving both your couple’s and individual well-being and enhancing your future together. Some of the issues that plague couples are: day to day stressors; repetitious arguments; reduction in intimacy; imbalances of power; mistrust; boredom; substance abuse; process addictions (shopping, food, TV are examples); codependency; parenting issues, unmet needs and expectations, and breakdown in communication. Chronic conflict, depression, anxiety, hopelessness, and the like are no way to spend our gift of days on earth and damage both ourselves and our partners emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Naturally if children are in the home they are also negatively impacted. People can reach the point where they feel that the only remedy is to give up on the relationship, but quite often this is not the solution. There are proven pathways towards healing a relationship and improving couple health. (You can also work on your relationship alone if your partner is not willing to participate.) Frequently couples lose their way from a happier and better functioning place and the conflict(s) escalates and/or continue until a sense desperation or futility prevails. By the time people reach out for help typically they have been struggling with their issues for some time and have not been able to attain meaningful resolution. It is at this point that enlisting the aid of a professional therapist can turn things around. I have 17 years of experience providing clients with compassionate guidance to identify realistic solutions enabling them to lead more fulfilling lives together. I use varying approaches to building the therapeutic bond, mindful of each person in the couple’s capacity and readiness for growth. Therapy can be invigorating and lead us to emerge from frustrating and, at times, demoralizing ruts. My breadth of knowledge and experience will permit us to begin working right away. Along with you I can help your couple not only resolve issues effectively but feel more joyful and satisfying when you are together or alone.

My approach primarily uses Systems Theory, in which we explore the dynamics of the relationship from the vantage point of it being a moving, living system. I also use Psychodynamic and Attachment Theories, which pinpoint places in our history where false narratives about the self and the world may have taken root, leading to problems in the present. Functional Family Therapy is used to promote empathy as a conflict-reduction tool and open up ideas for resolution in problem areas that have heretofore been ‘stuck.’ I will consistently monitor your unique couple’s timing for change and provide non-judgmental support as we go.

I am a Master's graduate of a private, well-respected and accredited university where I was trained in both mental health and marital, couple, and family therapy. I also hold a certification in Addictions Counseling from another major private institution. Addictions can be more than drugs and alcohol, which means they can be overlooked or underestimated in their harmful effects. I continually read and become educated in my field to add to my fund of knowledge to serve my clients better.

Let's get started finding real solutions for your relationship now.
