About me

I have been fortunate to work with people in all stages across the life-span, as a counselor and life coach for 20 years. I have a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Western Michigan University and have taught at the preschool and early elementary level. I also have training as a birth and postpartum doula. My M.A., also through WMU, is in Community Agency Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan and Arizona. I was fortunate to offer counseling for elderly residents of long-term care facilities in Branch County, MI for five years. My pronouns are she/her.

Most recently I have combined my passion for helping people with my interest in multiculturalism. I am a certified diversity trainer with National Coalition Building Institute and have spent twelve years working with international high school exchange students throughout every aspect of their program experience, from placement to support throughout their program year.

I was thrilled to participate in Bennett Stellar University training in Neuro-Linguistic Proramming and Hypnotherapy in 2013 and have found the coaching skills gained there to be a tremendous addition to my counseling background.. My approach to counseling varies depending on the needs of the client and combines all aspects of my own background to work effectively with a diverse range of clients at all points in the life cycle.

My counseling style is warm, compassionate, and interactive. I use an eclectic blend of cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and mindfulness techniques along with Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), hypnotherapy, and TimeLine Coaching to help you reach your goals. Together we will explore the messages you have absorbed from the world around you and re-frame the subconscious messages you give yourself so that you can find peace, happiness, and success.

With regard to couples' counseling, I believe the therapeutic process is an opportunity for healing and growth through the exploration of one's self and relationships. Through this process we are able to achieve a greater sense of personal and relational satisfaction by creating mindfulness, balance, and connection within our lives.

My emphasis in my counselor training was in marriage and family therapy. I focus on the family systems approach based on a theory introduced by Dr. Murray Bowen that suggests that individuals cannot be understood in isolation from one another, but rather as a part of their family, as the family is an emotional unit. Families are systems of interconnected and interdependent individuals, none of whom can be understood in isolation from the system. I have found great success in using Genograms, developed by Monica McGoldrick and Randy Gerson, to explore family relationships and their impact on individual development and mental health, even across generations.

She is the best. She is honest. She takes the time to actively listen without judgement.
I have been with her through the most difficult period of my life with nothing but time as the healer/solution; but knowing that she is the safe space to express it all made all the difference. I am forever grateful.

Amazing! My husband was worried that a female therapist would take my side only. Natasha was amazing at making my husband feel validated and involved. I also love that she gives real life examples. So very relieved that she asks questions also to find out whats going on instead of just listening to us complain. So glad we were connected with Natasha. 10/5 stars!
