My name is Moriah E. McCarthy. I am a licensed mental health counselor that believes in a holistic and blended approach. When working with a couple, I consider each member of the couple as an individual looking to balance the health of the individuals with the health of the couple. In truth, so much of what shapes us as individuals has been our relational experiences in life.
Treatment with me considers the past to understand that patterns that exist, but more of the work is present-focused. The couple will feel supported but also challenged to take responsibility for their own success. I use psycho-education and skills building to empower couples to support themselves after counseling.
All aspects of the relational health are welcomed into our work. I highlight this recognizing that romantic and sexual concerns are often not addressed in open, healthy, pro-active ways in our culture. Yet the romantic love, sexual connection and expression (and yes, the choice to be "asexual" is a form of sexual expression) is often integral to the life of the couple.
When you work with me, I hope that we partner in your treatment. I value your feedback, appreciate you opening to possibilities, and taking action for greater stability. My approach is best described as client-centered and creative. Thank you so much.

After only two sessions I feel that Moriah and I have developed a good rapport. It’s still early to say much more but she has sent me some good reading and links to great information.
