Welcome, and kudos for taking this step in taking care of yourself and your relationship. For some, reaching out for support comes easily; for others it is a scary step that they are unsure of. Either way, as a Clinical Therapist, I am inspired by every individual who makes the choice to utilize this resource because there is no reason for anyone to “go it alone” in this world. My name is Michelle and I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of Michigan, with over 20 years in the helping field. I have been fortunate enough to work with adolescents, adults, couples and families with a wide range of difficulties. Some of my favorite work lies in couples counseling, to assist couples in strengthening their relationship, learning how to communicate with respect and how to unlearn unhealthy behaviors. An often forgotten element of couples counseling is understanding how to co-parent if a couple has made the difficult decision to separate. The value of having assistance to navigate this type of situation cannot be overstated. I have extensive experience treating individuals/couples with sadness, anxiety, poor coping skills, grief, anger management, and general relationship issues.
I strive to fully understand why and what type of help someone is seeking. My own counseling style tends to be a humanistic, strengths based, and solution focused approach, while giving proper value and attention to how someone’s experiences have shaped their beliefs and behavior. I also recognize that not everyone is ready for a “solution” when they first seek help; often they just need to be heard and gain insight in to their own thoughts and feelings without judgement. I tend to use therapeutic strategies grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to assist clients in meeting the goals we have developed together. I do this type of work because when I see someone transition from feeling alone and struggling, to feeling validated and heard; it is the ultimate reward. I look forward to working with you!

Michelle has offered a new take on life for my relationship and myself as an individual and has helped coach me through extremely difficult situations.
I have complete confidence in her and wish I could recommend her to everyone I know!
She has been the best counsellor I have even spoken to and appreciate having her be a part of my journey.
We are still early in our relationship, but so far so good!
Michelle has impressed me with her level of knowledge and insight. I often expect that what I think is complicated, she seems to already understand what I am experiencing.
A very caring counsellor who takes the time to understand our issues, and helped us understand what's important. Thank you.
Michelle has been wonderful to work with and has really helped us as we navigate new and difficult waters. I highly recommend her!
I was pleasantly surprised by the background and experience that Michelle offers. She has diverse views, which help to incorporate the different perspectives that are at play in difficult situations. She is supportive yet holds you accountable when necessary, which I think is important to reach a solution. We are still early in the process but I feel confident that Michelle's support will be beneficial.
