About me
Hello and welcome. I am an Ordained Minister (Rev), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) in Pennsylvania. My background is in pastoral ministry (since January 2001). My wife and I have been married since June of 2000 and we have five children ranging in ages from 10 to 16. Over the past 22 years I have spent a lot of time in counseling with individuals, couples, and families helping them to overcome their struggles (Parenting, premarital and marital issues, ADHD, depression, anxiety, gambling and substance abuse and addiction, legal issues, religious issues, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, and many others). I desired to be better equipped to help, so I went back to get my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy which I completed in December of 2017. I was glad to be able to bring my real world experience to the classroom and I found that I was already putting into practice a lot of what I was studying.
Over the years I have worked with couples from all walks of life. I've had clients from all faiths (and no faith) backgrounds, straight and LBGTQIA, children, teens, adults, parents, grandparents.
I have had the privilege of working with couples who are dating, engaged, married, and dealing with separation and divorce. It is my desire to help you build strong and healthy relationships by helping you get to know your partner better, how to communicate so your partner understands you, how to disagree and argue without hurting each other, and how to help each other change and grow into happy and healthy individuals.
I will be your supporter, your cheerleader, your encourager, and your teammate. I believe that real change starts in the therapy session, but you make the change happen outside of session and in the real world. I'm looking forward to working with both of you.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Rev. Michael Abell. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
Michael, Listens very well and let's you talk. He also doesn't judge you. I would recommend him
Michael is insightful and kind. He finds ways to make us laugh at ourselves. He invents creative ways to help us learn from each other. Top notch counselor!
Awesome
We have enjoyed our sessions with Rev. Abell. He is funny and insightful - we actually look forward to counseling each week! Our marriage has improved greatly since we started therapy with Rev. Abell. Highly recommend.
Fantastic therapist. Really connects
And goes above and beyond for
His patients.
Very understanding and respectful. Definitely feels like he listens to us and helps us to better understand ourselves within our relationship.
I like Rev Abell’s approach to therapy. He is very attentive and consistently checks in with me throughout the week. I truly believe he cares about what is best for me and my husband in the long run and is very slow to judge which is awesome when I’m in the midst of chaos and need a calm cool head to see through the storm. I highly recommend him!
He makes sure you are heard and understood
Rev.Abell is a great counselor. I've had a few counselors in my lifetime and he is definitely one that is great at what he does. Judgement free, really listens, actually reads your journal entries, and responds in a timely manner. He is there to help you get through whatever you are going through.
