About me
Hello and welcome. I am an Ordained Minister (Rev), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) in Pennsylvania. My background is in pastoral ministry (since January 2001). My wife and I have been married since June of 2000 and we have five children ranging in ages from 12 to 18. Over the past 24 years I have spent a lot of time in counseling with individuals, couples, and families helping them to overcome their struggles (Parenting, premarital and marital issues, ADHD, depression, anxiety, gambling and substance abuse and addiction, legal issues, religious issues, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, and many others). I desired to be better equipped to help, so I went back to get my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy which I completed in December of 2017. I was glad to be able to bring my real world experience to the classroom and I found that I was already putting into practice a lot of what I was studying.
Over the years I have worked with couples from all walks of life. I've had clients from all faiths (and no faith) backgrounds, straight and LBGTQIA, children, teens, adults, parents, grandparents.
I have had the privilege of working with couples who are dating, engaged, married, and dealing with separation and divorce. It is my desire to help you build strong and healthy relationships by helping you get to know your partner better, how to communicate so your partner understands you, how to disagree and argue without hurting each other, and how to help each other change and grow into happy and healthy individuals.
I will be your supporter, your cheerleader, your encourager, and your teammate. I believe that real change starts in the therapy session, but you make the change happen outside of session and in the real world. I'm looking forward to working with both of you.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Rev. Michael Abell. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
Rev. Abell is the best. He’s easy to talk to and has very practical advice. He is very responsive to messages and is very punctual with sessions. Highly recommend.
He asks insightful questions and offers a third perspective on conflicts as well as good action plans and advice. He remembers a lot of points mentioned during therapy and makes connections that I wouldn’t think of myself. Overall we’ve made a lot of revelations about mine and my partners’ personalities and how we mesh together.
Understanding and listens when you communicate
Rev. Abell has been a blessing to my partner and I as he helps guide us through repairing our relationship.
Mike was awesome, he listened and had great advise they did not put one spouse against the other, rather help them work together
I absolutely love our therapist Rev. Abell. I have felt completely comfortable with him from day one. He’s by far the best therapist I’ve ever worked with.
Michael has helped my husband and I work through some major issues in our marriage. He has stuck by us for about a year and our marriage is stronger and better because of his participation in our healing process.
We highly recommend Michael Abel!!!
Rev Abell is very responsive and proactive. I appreciate his insight and overall its been a very positive experience.
Rev. Abell was great to work with. We met with hin for pre-martial counseling and he was able to meet us where we were at based on our needs and wants and help us explore that. He created a safe, friendly and open atmosphere where at times it did not feel as if we were speaking with a therapist.
Michael, Listens very well and let's you talk. He also doesn't judge you. I would recommend him
Awesome
Fantastic therapist. Really connects
And goes above and beyond for
His patients.
Very understanding and respectful. Definitely feels like he listens to us and helps us to better understand ourselves within our relationship.
I like Rev Abell’s approach to therapy. He is very attentive and consistently checks in with me throughout the week. I truly believe he cares about what is best for me and my husband in the long run and is very slow to judge which is awesome when I’m in the midst of chaos and need a calm cool head to see through the storm. I highly recommend him!
He makes sure you are heard and understood
Rev.Abell is a great counselor. I've had a few counselors in my lifetime and he is definitely one that is great at what he does. Judgement free, really listens, actually reads your journal entries, and responds in a timely manner. He is there to help you get through whatever you are going through.
