About me

Hi. I’m Margaret Doman. I am licensed Clinical Social Worker

My professional training was with an emphasis in Clinical Social with Individuals and Families with the utilization of Psychodynamic processing and Therapeutic Counselling models including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotional Behavior therapy, Dialectical behavior Therapy, and Brief Therapy among others.
From my professional experience, I bring over 34 years of experience working with people in the helping professions, including 17 years as a Clinical Social Worker. I have worked directly with clients of all ages, children through adolescents and adults in a variety of settings. I have worked with clients with a variety of presenting issues and dilemmas, including depression, anger management, stress and anxiety, grief and loss, marital, family and parenting difficulties, relationship issues, trauma and emotional abuse and mental health disorders.

From my personal experience I bring decades of experience, including living and working within a variety of cultures, religious and ethnic communities, making me aware and sensitive to the nuances of individuals’ diversity and challenges.

As a Social Worker I recognize that life, with all it's possible joys and wonderment, presents us with many varied challenges and barriers to being and feeling fulfilled, happy, content, satisfied, or good and at peace with our lives and the relationships that we desire, seek and pursue. For the most part we cope and manage to come out on top. But we are individually uniquely complex and that complexity presents challenges in relationships, that are often equally or more diverse and complex. The landscape of marriage and families rapidly changes with time, life transitions, and many other factors of family evolution. the demand for change and adaptation can be overwhelming putting stress and strains on the relationship, on the individual's to cope, or participate as a team, threatening the relationship.

I believe in a holistic approach to mental health therapy, taking into consideration all aspects of being a person in their particular unique environment and circumstance.
My therapeutic approach is strength based, using eclectic therapeutic techniques, providing a supportive counseling relationship, whereby you can explore and gain understanding and insights drive your resolve, action plan, change and growth towards that stronger, happier, functional, relationship!

Margaret is a sincere, caring and non-judgemental therapist and we feel in very good hands with her. She uses a range of approaches to help us deal with our problems and we have made great progress as a result of both her personal and professional ways.

Margaret is helpful, neutral and fair, and knows how to help us to understand each other without apportioning any blame on either party. She places a lot of emphasis on giving couples the tools to tackle their issues together, so that they can carry through their new skills and knowledge in the long run without being stuck in therapy forever.

With hope in a very challenged state, Margaret brought much needed renewed hope in just one video session. She has a way of addressing the issues with no noticeable bias. She balances a very none threatening communication growth between husband and wife to get to the excitement of re-building a love relationship back into the marriage. Highly recommend her.
