About me

Hello. My Name is Larry Ouellette . I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with an additional certification to provide supervision to counselors in training. I am licensed in the state of Texas. I have an M.Ed. in counseling granted by Cambridge College. I have more than 20 years’ experience in private practice with individuals, couples and families.

Relationships are complex, unique and ever evolving. Your relationship belongs to you and will reflect your values and goals. I have worked with couples of virtually every variety -straight, gay, mixed race, mixed religion. My goals are to provide a safe, supportive space where couples can communicate their needs honestly and openly, and learn from each other what makes them unique and what holds them together. Often couples find themselves grappling with challenges they never imagined, such as blending family members or a child resentful of a parent's choice to embark on a new relationship following a divorce, disapproving parents, or even toxic career competition.

Partners in a once loving relationship can suddenly find themselves wondering what happened to their desire for each other. Individuals involved in abusive relationships often feel torn by conflicted loyalties and shattered self-esteem. These can all seem like insurmountable obstacles, leading to depression, fear and loneliness.

My role as your counselor is to provide a safe space where couples can speak honestly of their hopes and dreams, fears and anxieties, and through this work find resolution and renewal. I am a client-centered counselor. I won’t ask you to do anything that violates your first principles, but we may in the course of our work examine and test the validity of those principles to see if they still apply. I am open minded, compassionate, and many of my clients have told me I’m easy to talk to.

I am primarily a Cognitive Behavioral counselor, which means we would be working with beliefs and thoughts, and how they drive behaviors. I also have training and extensive experience in several other treatment modalities, including psychodynamic counseling, family systems counseling, grief counseling and EMDR, among others. My approach to counseling is pragmatic, and I will often draw from many disciplines as required as we work toward solutions.

Larry is one of the best counselors I've experienced. He approaches relationships practically and wisely drawing on many years of experience. His ability to get to the bottom of things is remarkable. Our relationship has improved significantly since we've been meeting with him.

We came to Larry after our marriage broke down following the birth of our first child. The relationship had gotten very toxic and communication was impossible. Larry gave us perspective and tools to manage the conflict and effectively talked us off the ledge. He's very pleasant to chat to, non judgmental and always seems to have sage advice for the moment. After only a couple of months our relationship is much more relaxed and we've both moved past a lot of the resentment. The main thing we have now is positivity and a belief that we can get back to our former bond. Wouldn't have done it without Larry's help. Thanks!

We worked with Larry to help resolve issues in our marriage. His experience and wisdom really guided us to understand the hurdles we had to get through and put our challenges in perspective. Because of his guidance, we are on the right track and feeling great moving forward!
