About me

Hello, and welcome!

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I have experience in community mental health, intensive-in-home therapy for children and families, emergency services and supporting active duty service members. My areas of focus in counseling are anxiety, stress management, substance dependence, relationship issues and life changes and transitions. As an expat, I understand the difficulties of adjusting to a new country and the unique challenges this can bring and offer guidance in areas of cultural adaptation, isolation and identity issues. In my work with couples, I integrate Gottman Method approaches, and am currently working toward certification as a Certified Gottman Therapist.

My goal is to help couples reclaim and strengthen inner resources needed to confront challenging issues and situations. My role in this process is collaborative as we work toward creating new perspectives that lead to positive change and growth. I believe that effective therapy embraces various approaches depending on your individual style and therapeutic needs, and that each person is a resilient and active participant in the shaping of their own lives. I hope to be of assistance in this process and I look forward to working with you!

Karen is absolutely amazing. From the first session, my boyfriend and I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. She is constantly giving us tools to set us up for success in our relationship. We find ourselves utilizing the advice, and exercises Karen has given us in our sessions, almost every day. It has been life changing both of us. We both very much look forward to talking to her!

Karen is very knowledgeable and in a skillful manner steers the discussion in order to help as much as possible. She is very experienced, a good listener and I feel comfortable sharing with her even the most personal aspects of my life which I am struggling with. She is kind and pleasant and has created a safe environment to discuss and counsel. I strongly recommend Karen as a counselor.
