About me

I am an individual, family and couples counselor licensed in New Mexico with over six years of experience working as a therapist in both community and correctional settings. I had the honor of working with clients who were struggling with a broad range of mental health disorders, from major depressive disorder to schizophrenia, as well as with major life stressors such as homelessness and domestic abuse. While working in this clinic, I also worked with couples and families, helping them work through marital difficulties and ineffective family dynamics.

My treatment approach is geared specifically to the needs of my client rather than maintaining a strict adherence to a one-size fits all approach. I will use components of number treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to determine what will work best for the client, as well as incorporating an existentialist approach to give personal meaning and hopefulness to our work together. My main goal is to work a my clients to identify what is not working in their lives, how it impacts them the most, and what they want to change to improve their day to day functioning.
My education as a counselor includes incorporating aspects of personal spirituality as they pertain to the whole person. Personally, I believe spirituality transcends a specific religion or faith orientation, rather it is often part of what drives and motivates a person in addition to what gives a person meaning. Spirituality can also contribute to a greater sense of community and connectedness with others.

Most important in my practice with clients is establishing a mutual trust and sense of safety in our sessions. Therapeutic goals are cooperatively agreed upon and I strive to instill a sense of self-empowerment and positive self-image in all of my work with clients. The philosophy of "give a person a fish and they will eat for a day, teach a person to fish and they will eat for a lifetime" is very much at the heart of my therapeutic approach. My professional goal as a therapist is to work with clients to ultimately develop the skills and confidence to resolve their issues for themselves. To take control of their lives.

I look forward to work with you!!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Jackson Williams. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.

I enjoy working with Jack. He has helped me tremendously. He is supportive and he knows his stuff. I would recommend Jack to my friends.

The best way I could review Dr Jack is to say that I have been unable to find a counselor who I believed could help me for three years since my wife and I have been living apart. On a scale of 1-10 Dr Jack deservedly has earned a 12. I would be willing to speak with prospective candidates seeking a counselor who has the ability to make a difference in their lives.
