About me

Hi and Welcome!

My name is Hope Holman. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia with over 9 years of experience in the mental health field. I am a retired Navy veteran and Disabled Vet who earned my Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work at Saint Leo University. I am also a Registered Play Therapist.

I have served clients with a wide range of concerns including; but not limited to, depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, domestic violence, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, anger issues, relational conflict, parenting challenges, foster care/adoption, Autism, ADHD, physical/sexual/emotional abuse, abandonment/rejection, and life changes. I have experience with various populations from ages 4 to 80. In addition, I have work experience in group therapy, support groups, couple counseling, outpatient, and in-home therapy.

My style of counseling is warm, non-judgmental, supportive, and encouraging. My therapeutic approach is strength-based, combining Cognitive-Behavioral and Client-Centered Therapy; however, I am experienced in several other treatment modalities. As your therapist, you can expect a safe place to unpack and process life; while feeling supported, heard, and empowered.

Therapy takes work and healing is a journey. I am humbled to walk alongside you as you discover a much healthier and happier you. Lao Tzu once said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” Seeking out therapy is that one step. It takes considerable courage and strength to say, “I need help!” Perhaps, you simply need a listening ear or a heart that seeks to understand. Whichever it may be, I congratulate you for starting your journey to healing and wholeness whether for the first time in therapy or starting again. You are braver than you think and stronger than you realize!

I am excited about your journey. Let’s get started!

When you look up the word "hope" in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of this incredible woman.

I met with Hope regularly for over 6 months and every session left me feeling happier, smarter, and more HOPEful. Her warm and comforting presence makes it really easy to open up, yet her experiences and wisdom are unmatched in this field.

She helped me through an ugly divorce and guided me through establishing a new life for myself. Because of Hope, I was able to come out of one of the darkest periods of my life as 100x better of a person in all facets. Her emphasis on cognitive therapy and mastering your mindset has completely changed my life.

If you're looking for help with your relationship, trying to process/heal from trauma, dealing with depression/anxiety, or just generally want to live a happier and healthier life, I strongly recommend Hope.

So far so good. Our first time ever using marriage therapy, but Hope makes it bearable. She does a great job of listening to us both and making sure we both are heard amd understood. I look forward to our meetings. She is a great help at helping us communicate where it would be much more difficult to, with the tools and the help.

Hope has been amazing thus far with my spouse and I during couples counseling. Very charismatic, an amazing listener to both us, attentive to our messages and or questions, we both feel heard and understood. She's also been very resourceful with providing us information based on what we've discussed in sessions. We look forward to continuing to work with her.
