About me
I am a California licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with 7 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress, anxiety, relationship and parenting issues. I work with couples to repair trust, improve communication, and strengthen their emotional intimacy with each other.
I obtained my undergraduate degrees, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology and Political Science from U.C. Irvine and I earned my Master of Arts (M.A.) in Psychology from Chapman University in Orange, CA. After getting my license and working in the field of psychotherapy, I took time off to have a family before returning to counseling. I have worked in private practice and in schools. I am also dually certified as an Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) Mental Health Practitioner and Equine Soecialist.
My therapeutic approach is based in working with the client to help guide them in finding, within themselves, the solutions that best meet their needs. I believe you are the expert on you and uncovering solutions that you will most naturally and comfortably use is the goal. Becoming aware of and tapping into those hidden resources and then connecting them to your life's situations will be part of our work together. I do use some Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy as well as Interpersonal Therapy resources to assist in recognizing and uncovering solutions.
Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Gia Castiglia Schwarzer. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
Gia is a wonderful therapist. She listens to my concerns. She responds in a method which I can hear in her suggestions are things that fit with me and my personality. She’s very knowledgeable in the field, professional, kind, and empathetic. I would suggest her as a therapist to anybody Who needs to work through some issues. Thank you, Gia for all you’ve done for me
Gia’s great! I’ve had a few therapist’s in my life, and Gia’s one of the best. She hears the problem and responds with tools to address it. She asks us how our week went and if the problem resurfaced, and how we responded. She’s very pleasant while being professional, ie., she doesn’t placate or sanitize, nor is she sarcastic or condescending . It’s great that we’re going together so Gia can see our dynamic and advise us on more effective ways to communicate with each other and the problem people in our lives. Our relationship has improved since we started our therapy with Gia. I’m very pleased.
She is awesome
Gia is very thoughtful, present, kind and knowledgeable. Every time we meet, I feel better and more balanced about what's going on in my life.
She is perfect for us. I have no idea how perfect for others... but would definitely tell others to give her a try. For our unique-ness... just right!
Amazing therapist so far. Has never made us feel belittled for our feelings, or behaviors. Highly recommended!
Gia is a great therapist
I’m not sure there are words that can truly describe how much Gia has helped my relationship. She is kind, knowledgeable, encouraging and has gone above and beyond to make my husband and I feel safe and welcome and understood. We can’t thank her enough for her support.
