About me

Hello, I’m Gerald. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Military Family Life Counselor with more than a decade of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families in both military and civilian settings. I specialize in relationship repair, infidelity recovery, grief and loss, depression, anger, family conflict, major life transitions, and spiritual concerns.

My approach is practical, collaborative, and grounded in what works. I use solution-focused strategies to help clients create meaningful change, and I draw from person-centered methods to ensure every session feels respectful, supportive, and tailored to your needs. Clients often describe me as authentic, approachable, and down-to-earth. You can expect honesty, care, and a genuine partner in your growth.

I believe in practicing what I teach. I don’t recommend tools I haven’t used myself, and I see wellness as a lifelong personal commitment. This work inspires me because I get to witness people rediscover hope, rebuild connection, and grow stronger than they thought possible.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Communication from Saint Norbert College and both my Master of Science in Community Counseling and Doctor of Education in Interdisciplinary Leadership from Creighton University. I currently serve as a Resident Assistant Professor at Creighton in the School Counseling and Preventive Mental Health program, and I maintain a private practice where I work with a diverse range of clients and provide supervision to developing therapists.

If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be honored to walk with you. For more about my practice, visit my website at prosightful.org.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Gerald Igboanusi. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.

Gerald is actively helping my husband and I work through some issues that we've been dealing with for years. I feel like we've made significant progress already in only two sessions and we look forward to continue working with Gerald as we strengthen our relationship.

Gerald is a candid and effective counsellor.
The sessions have more value than the time allocated.
I have recommended him to my contacts

Very professional in all aspects.

Gerald Igboanusi is able to understand and empathise with me while translating that in better words or facts to my spouse. I feel that’s the most important requirement in a mediator.

Work with me!
