About me
I agreed to "love, honor and cherish" my spouse. In the dramas of life, somehow that gets lost and marriages have some tough times, ending in divorce statistically in a little over 50% of the time. I enjoy working with couples. I am able to stay neutral and avoid taking sides. I am interactive in the sessions, will challenge harmful behaviors and offer better ways to interact and resolve conflict. I utilize psycho-educational information and homework to facilitate positive change. When I can get the couple to let go of their pride, find humility and look in the mirror instead of a magnifying glass, they sense more control and good things happen. Often they walk away from therapy and live their lives "passionately ever after".

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Gary Gabbard. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
So far, talking to Gary this has been a really great experience for us.
Gary is very laid back, but doesn’t hold back or sugarcoat anything. He clearly knows what he is talking about, and has an unpretentious delivery, and lot of patience. He doesn’t ‘take sides’, but will question any issue or behavior that is problematic on both parts. There will always be moments with anyone that we don’t love or agree everything we hear, but it’s worth giving him a solid shot past a moment of hearing what you don’t like, because he’s been very helpful-and having a neutral third party is helpful when communication has become tense.
I appreciate that he gives advice and guidance one bite at a time-into actionable, direct, and clear steps. He also sends information to use later, and follows up on how it is going, and adds adjustments from there.
We should have done this sooner, because just putting in the effort and taking time out to try to communicate and work together has already made big differences for us.
It is nice to know that it is never too late for therapy, teamwork, or effort.
Very understanding and respectful. Listens and provides good feedback.
Receptive and a good listener
I like that Gary has suggestions to get better.
Gary is very good at what he does. He tells it like it is in a way that’s productive for those who really want help.
Great therapist. Really helped us out. Highly recommended!
Very happy with my experience with Dr Gary Gabbard!
Supportive and always listening.
Gary was great and we will be using him again, the pricing is a little much for us at the moment however.
Gary has been great! He is very attentive and listens to my concerns. He has been able to help me with my frustrations.
Great session
Gary is knowledgeable, caring, and honest. Really like our sessions with him.
I’ve had therapy in the past. Usually consisting of rehashing and focusing on the past which doesn’t necessarily mean healing. But with Gary, there’s room to talk about the past but focus is more on strategies to create new habits and coping skills. If you are willing to put in the work, Gary is a great guide!
I've only had a few sessions so far, but he has good advice thus far.
Gary is extremely supportive and compassionate. We are so grateful for his help and we’ve seen immense improvement after only two sessions!
He will tell it like it is an listens to you...feel comfortable w Gary
Listens, gives good ideas and straight to the point!
Garry is straightforward and kind. He will call like it is but also offer several strategies to get back to the real meaning of what your relationship is.
We have only spoken with Gary once. He seems like a very capable therapist. His straightforward approach is very helpful.
We have used Regain 3 times in the last 3 years. Gary is the first time that we have felt truly connected with our sessions. He is unbiased, tells you like it is, and readily available. I believe his excercises and advice are practical and helpful.
He’s such a nice an honest person. He will listen to what you were saying if you are also call you out if you’re out of line. Self reflection is a hard thing but he does it in such a nice way. We really enjoy our sessions with him.
I have only had one session but so far it’s great
Gary is very responsive and most of all very approachable. He made me feel safe and comfortable during our sessions. I have had a couple of sessions so far but I would definitely recommend him.
Gary has been the best. He's always right on the money with advice and guidance. It's been a great experience.
My husband and I have spoke with several counselors and Gary is by far our top pick. He is very thorough, gives adequate guidance, and I recommend him 10/10.
Gary does a great job intentionally and thoughtfully listening. He hears what your concerns are and helps you to look inward to find a solution, as opposed to dwelling on the things around you that you are unable to control.
Very good counseling
