About me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 22 years of experience counseling primarily adults in the state of Indiana. I believe in the practice of "unconditional positive regard," meaning I will never be judgmental or shaming during my time with you. Instead, I will be sincere, engaging, supportive and encouraging you in your journey towards a better you.
My experience in counseling includes those with Depression, Grief, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, ADHD, Relationship issues, Abuse (sexual and domestic), Shame-based Family of Origin issues, Co-Dependency, and Addictions.
With couples I look at each mate individually and do not take sides or allow hidden agendas. I encourage members to stay focused on the problem and not on each other while working to build communication and fair fighting skills leading hopefully to a stronger awareness of each other and the relationship as a whole. I use non-threatening, inter-active "homework" to further develop the above skills.
In therapy I use a blend of Adlerian and Cognitive Behavioral therapies, which focuses on how our thinking, feeling, and behavior can drive dysfunctional living, and
conversely, how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can be changed to produce a healthier, productive lifestyle. To that end, in addition to talk therapy, I use didactic, experiential, and the use of parables to help facilitate your progress.
If you choose to work with me, together we will make a plan of treatment based on your goals for seeking treatment, and I will walk with you every step of the way.
