My name is Dr. Claude Ouellette. Over the years, I have acquired a Ph.D. in Psychology, as well as the Mental Health Professional (MHP) and Child Mental Health Specialist (CMHS) credentials. This is less impressive than the pursuit of excellence which I am currently undertaking via a Ph.D. in Psychoanalysis (degree which I hope to complete in the next 3 to 4 years).
I have, as a practitioner, over 30+ years of experience in providing mental health services – from intake, to assessment, to counseling/psychotherapy, to key collaborative work. While I continue to enjoy these aspects of my work, I will focus my work at BetterHelp/Regain, according to the following parameters:
1- I will work exclusively with individuals struggling with a dissociation identity disorder (aka DID).
2- As a structured individual, therapy can be negotiated but needs to include (a) an informal dialogue to assess needs, (b) the use of assessment(s), and (c) a dialogue as to how to monitor progress over time.
3- As my patient, be aware that I plan to use Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Ego State interventions.
4- Also, be aware you might be asked to participate in a doctoral-level study. Participation has always and remains voluntary – we can talk about this as we work together.
