About Me

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 17 years of experience working with couples. My experience includes working with premarital couples preparing for their upcoming weddings, newlyweds who are trying to get their footing in that new season of their lives, as well as those who may have been together for years and who find themselves struggling in a marriage that isn't what they hoped and dreamed it would be. I believe strongly in the importance of healthy communication and much of my work involves teaching those skills as well as sharing important principles and explaining ways to create a happier and healthier relationship that will satisfy both spouses, despite any hurt and problems that may have been present in the marriage prior to reaching out for help.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach is eclectic and includes cognitive-behavioral, paradoxical, empathic listening and family of origin work. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet each spouse's unique and specific needs, working to find a pace that both challenges them to reach the goals they desire to achieve, while also helping them to feel heard, understood and as comfortable as possible.

It takes a great deal of courage to reach out for help in order to have a more fulfilling and happier marriage and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take those steps, I am excited to help support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

My wife and I were neither in a good place, or bad place in our marriage. Just kinda stuck. Poor communication, on each other's nerves often, and very misunderstanding of each other's emotions. Cheryl has really opened our eyes, and and hearts. She has helped us love each other again. When I thought we were certainly on a road leading to separation, Cheryl has shown us a detour that we are happy to take. I'd recommend her to anyone. Whether you have faith in God or not, she can appeal to you. My wife loves her, and she's a optimistic agnostic!

Cheryl, thank you for all you were teaching. I was looking forward to speaking with you again. This was not a decision discussed between us.
