About me
My name is Dr. Cheri Anderson and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan with over 20 years of experience as a mental health psychotherapist and an International Certified Gambling Counselor. I have a PhD in Counseling and Clinical Supervision from Wayne State University. I am trained to use Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) with trauma clients. I provide counseling services to individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing emotional pain.
I also provide Christian counseling by addressing emotional pain from a Biblical perspective- if requested by the client.
I work with clients who are struggling with a variety of issues, but not limited to: domestic violence, anger management, infidelity, poor communication, depression, anxiety, low-self esteem, technology addictions, gambling addiction, and life after COVID-19, I use a cadre of therapeutic modalities: reality therapy, client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, & systemic family therapy.
I have conducted effective communication, conflict resolution, and forgiveness workshops for couples and families. When conducting couples therapy, I always recommend the couple seek individual counseling as well (in order to address any "Communication Blockers"). I have worked with blended families, foster families, & single-parent families.
Healthy relationships take time to build into something beautiful, unfortunately it take less time to destroy relationships. So let me help re-build your relationship by providing you with practical skills for a healthy relationship. When you have a relationship with a healthy foundation, you can handle the" relational" storms of life. During the counseling sessions, couples and families will have the opportunity to role-play healthy communication skills, learn the benefits of forgiveness, learn to set healthy boundaries, learn to trust again, and learn to love again.
I want you to help you by giving you the healthy skills needed to build a healthy functioning relationship.
I look forward to our first building session.

THANK YOU! dr anderson has been a pleasure to work with! highly recommended
Dr. Anderson has been instrumental in helping my husband and I navigate our feelings and begin rebuilding our marriage after infidelity. She is committed to helping us institute lasting skills we can use to better our marriage & continue to heal and grow together. She is amazing!
Really appreciate her God based Bible believing teaching really feel her compassion and concern and is very encouraging
She’s well experienced, empathetic and a great therapist
Dr. Anderson is a very professional couple's therapist. My wife and I started seeing Dr. Anderson after my wife filed a protective order against me for verbal and emotional abuse, separating me from her and our new baby boy. Our relationship has been abusive in both directions for many years. Dr. Anderson recognized the bidirectional abuse as exemplifying a "gaslighting" relationship almost immediately. Dr. Anderson has focused on our primary concerns, which are communication issues, and after 7 months of couples therapy, we have gotten rid of the PPO and we are living together as a family once again. We are planning to continue working with Dr. Anderson as we resolve our remaining communication issues. I have confidence in Dr. Anderson's ability as an extremely professional couple's therapist.
So happy we found Dr. Anderson as our therapist!
Love love Dr. Anderson. She is amazing and her advice is always on track!
Such a kind and understanding individual, I would highly recommend her
Great session, enlightening at the least
Dr Anderson was very attentive to my needs and also goal oriented.
Our first session went well. Dr. Anderson listed and asked questions in regards to our issues/concerns. I feel she was very personable and relatable to our concerns. She was easy to talk to and very kind! Thank you!
Dr. Anderson is very nice, she always gets back to us promptly, and really listens to our problems no matter how seemingly small they maybe. We would highly recommend.
My wife and I are sooo happy to have Dr. Anderson as our therapist.
Dr.Anderson made this experience for us easier than we thought being this was our first time going to therapy. She has allowed us to express and explore things that we did not know about each other. Our sessions have helped our relationship and we look forward to continuing the progress with her
