About me
Greetings!
My name is Avis and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor in the state of Texas. I have been married for 15 years and I have two wonderful children. I obtained a Doctoral degree from Texas Southern University, a Masters degree from the University of Houston- Victoria and a Bachelors degree from the University of Houston. I have over 12 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in a variety of settings including educational, outpatient, residential and in-home. My areas of interest include but are not limited to working with anxiety, depression, familial conflicts, marriage and couples, life transitions and trauma/abuse.
I am truly passionate about mental health. In order for you to be of value to anyone else, you must take care of yourself. I love working with couples and/or individuals that find themselves in need of counseling due to relationship challenges or just seeking to strengthen their union as partners. I find it rewarding to see the impact that counseling can make on improving you as an individual and as a partner within your relationships. I am eclectic in my approach to treatment, which simply means that I use a variety of theoretical approaches to meet the needs of my clients.
My counseling style is supportive. Choosing to receive counseling is not always an easy step. Therefore, it is my goal to make you as comfortable as possible while addressing your concerns. During this process, we will partner together to establish goals and implement strategies that will assist in overcoming life's challenges. There is no better time to take back your life and obtain the peace and serenity that you deserve! I look forward to taking this journey with you.
