I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a PhD in Human Services with a specialization in counseling. I work with marriage and family issues including parenting and communication. Historically, most of my clientele have been adults, followed by adolescents, and then older children. At this time, I am focusing my practice on working with adults only. About 75% of my practice involves working with adult relationship issues. These include adjusting to major life events and changes such as various forms of loss, divorce, empty nest issues, and intimacy problems.
I work with people experiencing depression, anxiety, attention deficit disorder, obsessive compulsive disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, work related stress problems, adjustment issues, and faith or spiritual issues.
I have a rather eclectic approach to counseling in that I borrow from several theories of human behavior and development. However, I gravitate to the existential transpersonal model in that I'm interested in what the person is experiencing today while considering the concept that people are spiritual beings embodied. I incorporate the cognitive behavioral model and at times utilize a more psychoanalytic model exploring the person's childhood experiences within a developmental context.
My personal philosophy is that my clients have the answers they seek before treatment begins. Through therapy the answers become more clearly visible.
