About me

Welcome to Better Help! I am Ann Garvey, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Connecticut. I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Social Work and graduated with the highest honors, and have mentored many Social Worker’s going through similar programs. I am professionally trained and experienced in working with Couples, Young Adults, Adults, and Adolescents with a variety of mental health and relationship concerns. I have earned additional certificates of concentrated training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

I have a particular interest in working with couples as I help them explore ways to feel more connected and improve relationships as well as gain skills to maneuver difficult transitions in their lives. This is one of my passions and strengths in assisting my couples in recognizing they are not alone in their struggles. I walk hand in hand with my clients empowering them to develop effective solutions to their unique challenges. What distinguishes me from other clinicians is the breadth of my experience and long-standing career in a helping profession. My approach is to provide a safe place where my clients feel seen, heard and accepted without judgment while working to achieve personal growth and wellness. I utilize an eclectic evidence-based therapeutic model with interactive cognitive behavioral techniques to assist my clients in reaching their goals beyond their expectations.

Through my nurturing hands on style, I have helped many people navigate various transitions in their lives. I have watched my client’s gain the strength and confidence they were missing and improve the way they feel about themselves and their relationships. Investing in yourself and your relationships through time, commitment, and a willingness to engage in therapy is courageous. I appreciate the vulnerability and effort it takes in finding a therapist that is right for you, and I am devoted to guiding you through the process. I believe the most important aspect in psychotherapy is the relationship between therapist and client, and I look forward to collaborating with you.

Ann is helping us identify and work through the weak spots in our marriage, individually and as a couple. She really hits the nail on the head when giving us insight on issues and walking us through solutions. We value our time with her, it has strengthened our marriage so much

Ann is great at figuring us out as individuals and as a couple. She is excellent at recognizing the situation quickly and helping us to resolve our conflicts with each other and ourselves. Each session has been great. She is so good for us. I do not know how we got so lucky to get Ann as our therapist.
