About me

I am a licensed therapist in New York with over 11 years of professional experience, and I specialize in working with both individuals and couples seeking deeper emotional connection, healing, and growth. I hold a graduate degree from New York University (NYU) and have had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients—including World Trade Center first responders at FDNY—which has deepened my understanding of trauma and resilience.

In my couples work, I am passionate about supporting diverse relationship structures and identities, including BIPOC couples, LGBTQ+ partnerships, and polyamorous relationships. I understand how culture, gender, identity, and past trauma can shape how we show up in our relationships—and I work to create a space where all of who you are is welcomed and affirmed.

I help couples:

Repair trust and rebuild emotional safety after betrayal or disconnection

Improve communication, especially when conversations feel stuck, defensive, or reactive

Navigate trauma responses and attachment wounds within the relationship

Explore identity, cultural, and intergenerational influences on how you relate to one another

Strengthen intimacy, both emotionally and physically, in ways that align with your shared values

Manage transitions such as moving in together, becoming parents, or redefining commitment

My approach is compassionate, affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive. I integrate techniques from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), The Gottman Method, Narrative Therapy, and parts work (such as Internal Family Systems) to help partners move from conflict to connection. I also incorporate mindfulness-based and strengths-based practices to support emotional regulation and deepen mutual understanding.

Taking the first step to seek support—especially as a couple—can feel vulnerable. Whether you're experiencing chronic conflict, a recent rupture, or simply want to strengthen your bond, I’m here to support and empower you on that journey.

Ammari as our therapist truly is exceptional at what she does. She listens to both my husband and me with such care and gives us the best advice tailored to our needs. Her experience shines through in every session, and I am grateful to have her guiding us. Just wanted to express my gratitude for having Ammari in our lives. She's truly a gem!
