About me
Hi, my name is Alan and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Georgia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. I have been Licensed as a Professional Counselor since 1996. I have a master’s degree from the University of Connecticut at Bridgeport CT, as well as course work in professional counseling from Georgia State University, Capella University and the William Alanson White institute for psychotherapy.
Currently I run a Human Service Program at a college in Maryland where I teach students how to be “Helpers” I teach courses in individual, family, addiction and group counseling.
I have over 40 years of counseling experience working with people from all walks of life as well all ages, (i.e. nationalities, race sex & sexual orientation etc.) I have worked in such diverse settings as prisons, community mental health centers, college counseling centers, state mental hospitals, drug treatment centers Veterans hospitals & Vet Centers, inpatient psychiatric hospitals and private practice
What makes me a good couples therapist is my understanding that a good relationship is rooted in the couples ability to set "healthy boundaries" with each other, this is based on the notion we have to separate "here & now" issues and "there and then" issues in a relationship. I help couples learn how to distinguish here & now issues from there & then issues by using an attachment-based approach which helps couples see how their attachment styles impacts how they set boundaries with each other. I use my relationship with the couple to help them understand how to make the changes they need to develop a more respectful and healthy understanding of boundaries and safe space and how to communicate that to each other
I promise I will listen, support, care, help you problem solve and focus on helping you understand who you are and what you want in life, as if we were sitting together in a face to face consulting room. One final comment Although we will have a designated time to talk, I want you to feel free to contact me anytime day or night, I check my computer very frequently and I am never bothered by my clients who contact me out of genuine need and concern.
I look forward to working with you in the future
Sincerely
Alan

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Alan Kahn. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
Great
I am pressed with how therapy was progressing.
Awesome guy!!!
Really gets us
We are new to the process hit warmed right up to Alan and have loved the open communication and checking he provides. Happy that we took the chance after debating weather this kind of therapy was the route for us.
He’s very understanding and knowledgeable. He’s truthful and knows what’s right from wrong.
Dr Alan, has been very patient and helped us identity the root causes of our relationship issues. He then provides expert guidance to help us find resolutions to our relationship problems and implement the needed changes. Highly recommend Dr. Alan.

Alan is extremely helpful and responsive. He also shares insightful tips and videos and advice.
Alan has been incredible. My spouse and I felt the difference from day 1.
We had a bad experience with a previous counselor so we requested to be re assigned. With the previous guy we would finish panicking and literally crying; now with Alan we love our sessions, we look forward to them and we feel peace and comfort with what we are doing.
We’re going on week 3 working with Alan and he’s been great. Listens to both mine and my husbands concerns. He also responds in a timely manner.
