About Me

"If you treat an illness, you win or you lose. If you treat a person, you WIN every time". This line from the movie "Patch Adams" describes my approach to counseling. My focus in on treating the Individual, not just the challenges they present with. Being a Social Worker and clinician isn't just my career, it's my calling

In over 30 years in practice, I've worked with a wide range of individuals who present with a wide range of challenges. These include:
- Veterans and Combat Veterans
- Survivors of sexual assault/trauma and child abuse
- Individuals with substance use disorders
- Relationship problems and challenges
- Complex Post-Traumatic Disorder, which is usually diagnosed as a Personality Disorder
- Individuals with developmental disabilities
- Individuals with chronic health conditions and facing end of life issues
-LGBTQ+ Friendly
- Youth and families

Aside from my experience; I'm a husband, father, grandfather of 4 and a Behavioral Health Officer in the Army National Guard (deployed once to Kuwait and Iraq). I'm a native Texan but enjoy living in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

Wayne provides an extremely safe space that is judgement free. I am not an open person, but the environment he creates helps me to be more open and honest. He has been great.
