About me

Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Oregon, and I have over 11 years of experience working with individuals dealing with mental illness. I have worked both in private practice and in an acute care psychiatric hospital providing individual, group, and family therapy. I am comfortable treating all mental health issues, including helping those in crisis, and I have extensive experience working with individuals dealing with self-injury, anxiety/depression, pre and postpartum depression, and PTSD, and abuse issues.

My philosophy in working with all clients is to provide the best well-rounded care while focusing and building upon the strengths of the individual so that healthy coping patterns can be developed. As a therapist, I strive to cultivate trusting and meaningful relationships in which my clients find the comfort they need to explore difficult issues and emotions. I am passionate about empowering my clients and leading them through a journey of self-discovery to assist them in arriving at new insights and realizations. My approach is warm and supportive and I combine cognitive-behavioral, person centered, and dialectal behavioral counseling into my sessions. I will always make sure to tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

Reaching out for help takes a lot of courage, and I would be honored to work with you. I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you in reaching your goals.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Tara Cook. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.

Tara has been a respectful, patient, and compassionate guide through the chaos of marriage. She always responds to messages with well thought out advice, making sure to address both parties' needs. I may have a strained relationship, but I believe that Tara is one of the only people in the world that can listen to us and stay sane! If you are in need of comfort and guidance, she's it.

I am very new to online counseling, but I feel like it is helping me so much already. I can, at any time begin to write to Tara about what is going on and how I’m feeling. She responds quickly, and gives me validation and tools that I can use. Another thing that is helpful, is I can go back through our past conversations at any time. I’m very excited to continue with Tara.
