Stephen Richardson

About Me

My name is Stephen Richardson and I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). From a very young age, I knew my life's calling was to be a counselor. I received my bachelor's in social work (BSW) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2012 and my master's in social work (MSW) from Winthrop University of Rock Hill South Carolina in 2016. I received my associate clinical licensure (LCSWA) in 2016 and have been practicing ever since. I received my full clinical licensure (LCSW) in February of 2019.

Relationships aren't easy. They take lots of hard work, compromise, and dedication to make them strong and vibrant. If you're relationship is struggling, you shouldn't give up without giving counseling a try. Couples counseling can mend even the worst of situations and circumstances. Together, we can work to get your relationship back on track.

I have experience working with all types of people and issues. I have no preference when it comes to whom I treat or for what issue. I want to help everybody to overcome their issues, obstacles, and challenges so that they can live their best lives. My area of expertise is treating people with mental illness, whether it's depression, anxiety, PTSD, personality disorders, OCD, bipolar or schizophrenia. I am trained in the evidence-based practices (EBP's) and modalities to best assist individuals suffering from these mental illnesses so that they can minimize their negative effects and maximize their happiness.

I promise to be non-judgmental, a good listener, helpful, insightful, and straight-forward with you. I am respectful of all cultures, beliefs, ideologies, and religions. I am not here to tell you what to do or how to do it. My job is to help you figure out what you want to do and how best to do it. You are in charge of your therapy. We will work on whatever you would like to. I will help you achieve whatever goal you're working towards.

Thanks for reading my profile! I look forward to getting to know you better and helping you with your mental health. I hope that you'll chose me to be your counselor so that together we can accomplish your goals so that you can live your best life.

Having counseling from Stephen has been a vital factor in saving our marriage. Stephen has helped me to heal from the trauma of my husband's affair, as well as helping us both work to strengthen mine and my husband's communication with each other, enforcing our strength as a couple. I couldn't recommend Stephen enough for what he has done for me and my husband. He has always been understanding, listened without judgment and kind.

Very understanding and calm when asking probing questions to lead the conversation in a way that is healthy and progressive for my husband and I. I believe that Stephen's help has really helped in guiding what to do and talk about in our sessions.
