Stephanie Sherman

(MC, LPC, NBCC)

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC) in Arizona with 10 years of private practice experience working as a mental health counselor, and another 20 years of executive level Human Resources work. I am a published author of healthcare and self-help books and articles. I have worked with couples with a wide range of concerns including one or both menbers of the couple struggling with depression, anxiety, infidelity, mismatched values and priorities, communication issues, parenting issues, identity issues, OCD, ADHD, and addiction issues. Long term relationships, as well as newer relationships, are subject to a need for a tune-up. If a couple does not work on, or pay attention to their relationship, the reationship will tend to drift.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I do not believe in making judgments, but prefer to help you think through your situation, options and possible positive or negative consequences. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic and rational-emotive counseling. I also like to use strenth-based counseling, and when possible, I work for a solution focus. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek help for a more fulfilling and happier life, and to take the first steps toward a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

After a year and a half our professional relationship with Stephanie has come to an end. In that time my partner and I have gone from being on the verge of splitting to now happily engaged. Stephanie is a great listener, a neutral party and always prepared with guidance and methodology to help us both individually and as couple overcome our hurdles. We both highly encourage anyone reading this to make use of her services.

This has been my first experience with counseling of any kind, and I feel so grateful to have been matched with Stephanie Sherman. I genuinely feel like she is happy to see my partner and I every week when we have a video session, she listens to both sides fairly and always makes us feel comfortable to be honest with her. I was afraid of judgement or having someone that didn't understand how to guide a same-sex couple, but Stephanie doesn't bat an eye. She is invested, she is caring and honest. She truly goes above and beyond for her clients and I appreciate her greatly.

Stephanie is always very encouraging and supportive and I always look forward to her replies. She offers different techniques and tips for solving problems and carefully considers the situation trying to "see around corners" for me and I do appreciate her concern.
