About Me
ABOUT ME
Welcome. From my experience working with combat veterans and their families, adults, couples, and teens, it is often important to clarify the role of environment in our efforts to find peace and harmony. My approach is psychosocial, a blend of Humanistic and Existential, informed by the importance of here-and-now relationship as informed by Fritz Pearls, Moreno, Carl Rogers, as well as several other modalities such as transactional analysis, psychodrama, and psycho dynamic therapy.
It allows a client-centered exploration of how relationship to self and others impacts on our physical and emotional health while we seek common life goals.
My training in sustaining procedures (support and reassurance), with active listening, attention to affect and encouraging verbalization (ventilation) respects the body/mind’s natural yearning for health and balance. Awareness of negative cognitions and "self-talk" is important, but attending to the energies of heart and soul is vital. I've worked with adults, couples, teens, and some family therapy using communication and structural strategies. Education in the use of emotional intelligence and honoring the language of feelings is often helpful and healing.
