Hi! My name is Dr. Sandra DiMarco and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with 9 years of experience treating couples and families. I received my doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In my previous experience, I have developed couples programs for the facilities I’ve been employed at. My couples program have focused on communication and helping couples feeling unstuck in their relationships. I have been inspired by a deep desire and curiosity to find ever more effective ways to make a difference in the lives of others and so, I approach all couples with compassion and a commitment to their best interest. As a therapist, I do not believe my process of learning ever ends. I take every experience as an opportunity for growth and I am continually refining my therapeutic skills to help create the most viable course of action for your relationship.
I understand that while navigating the problems in your relationship, you may experience many emotions—from anger and sadness, to confusion and fear. While working with me, I will offer you guidance and support, built on the foundational recognition that encouragement and connection can improve the quality of life and enhance resiliency. As a therapist, I recognize all couples have their own unique strengths and are capable of growth and change.
My treatment approach offers a different way of looking couples, one that respects the intensity, complexity, and unique qualities of couples’ struggles, while also discovering and highlighting their unique reparative potentials. I open up space for dialogue in which all couples can voice their truths, values and struggles. I consider you as the expert in your relationship and invite change through behavioral, emotional, and communicational alterations in the way you relate to your partner. Couples can learn how to let go of ineffective ways of interacting and how to establish and hold onto effective alternatives and workable solutions for their relationship. By discovering and practicing strategies for the effective handling of your relationship problems, you can learn skills to take home and maintain in the future to promote ongoing relationship satisfaction. My desire is that you will gain greater clarification about what you can do for relationship by participating in therapeutic conversations that move cautiously but steadfastly towards optimism, rather than despair. At the end of your treatment, my wish is that you will feel a new sense of direction and hope for the relationship you are a part of.
I look forward to working with you!
