About me
Hello! I am Samuel Means, a licensed professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania with 15 years of experience working with couples to help them resolve or mitigate the communication issues blocking them from having a cohesive relationship.
I primarily use psycho-education and role-play as a major approach in counseling to build and transfer new social skills that can improve their relationship dynamics. The second goal of my approach in couples counseling is to help couples build a rapport that they can use when they have to navigate through trouble time.
As with all adults, I believe in the Rogerian position that each person has the capacity within themselves to make the changes needed for a positive outcome in therapy. I view my job as a facilitator who help give insights into your strengths that will enable them to make the necessary change that they want to see in themselves.
A basic tenant of my approach in counseling is to use humor which helps to break the tension of sharing a problem and to introduce a concept or idea into the conversation (to clarify a point).
