If you go to my website at www.drrichmcguffin.com, you will see that I have been certified in couples therapy by the Couples Institute. I took a year long course in couples therapy because I have so many couples coming to me for help. I wanted to increase my skills with couple therapy. I have counseled dozens, if not hundreds of couples over the years with positive results. Of course, sometimes couples come to therapy too late. One or both are already out, and are coming to therapy to be able to say to themselves and others that they tried. Please, please, come to therapy before it’s too late to save the most important relationship in your life. No couple enters into marriage with the idea that they will someday divorce. Of course not! But, there are so many factors that can negatively impact a marital relationship. Kids almost always lose out. So do the adults in most cases. There are marriages that should end, and I would never deny that. Marriages that involve domestic violence or continual verbal and emotional abuse damage the partner who is on the receiving end. That doesn’t mean those marriage cannot be reconciled, but safety must be the first priority. I have successfully counseled couples who have experience infidelity in their marriage. Infidelity, while devastating, is not necessarily fatal to a marriage. I won’t kid you, building back trust is hard.
I enjoy working with couples as long as they are willing to work hard on resolving the issues that weigh on their relationship. I always ask each partner to look in the mirror before finding fault with their partner. We have to own our own shortcomings. There is no greater satisfaction for a couples therapist than to see a couple fall in love again. Give couples therapy a chance.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Richard McGuffin. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
Dr. McGuffin has been such a godsend for our relationship. He’s excellent at what he does, and he shows a genuine interest in helping.
He helped us realize how much we love each other, and he provides us with tools to strengthen our relationship on a weekly basis. I’d recommend couples therapy, and specifically Dr. McGuffin, to anyone who would like to restore their relationship.
I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel and I’m so grateful for that.
We have been very pleased with our sessions and his recommendations. Very helpful.
