About me

Hello! It appears to me that you are a courageous person who has identified an issue in your life that is causing you distress and decided to take the first step to reach out for help in making changes toward a more satisfying life. I am Rebecca Fitzgerald and I feel privileged to be considered as a possible partner on your endeavor.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas with 24 years experience with issues such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, family conflict, relationship issues and self-esteem issues. I have counseled with adolescents, individuals, families, and couples. My approach to therapy is eclectic, using a variety of modalities which best serve a client's needs and goals. My approaches include Client Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) with Mindfulness techniques and Humanistic Therapy. I am a firm believer that clients know themselves better than anyone and can therefore determine what they want to get out of the process and in collaboration with the counselor, determine their goals. I believe every client deserves to be treated with respect, honesty and warmth and I feel a therapeutic alliance involves honest communication and a commitment to do the work together.
I have found that couples often feel their relationship needs a complete overhaul when in reality, a few genuine changes may be all that is needed to put them back on track to a satisfying relationship. Often couples repeat behaviors from their past without realizing they are being destructive in their present relationship. Exploring hurts from the past, although cannot be changed, often provides insight so that couples may live a healthier and happier life with their partners.
If you should select me, I am here to walk with you on your journey.

After going through a number of therapist who didn't seem like they cared to get to know me much less problems, I'm grateful to have stumbled upon Mrs. Rebecca Fitzgerald. Even though our 1st video session wasn't scheduled until almost a full month out, she communicated with me via messaging and I really really appreciate that. She took the time to get to know me and understand me before our first session which gave me confidence in her people skills and a sense of comfort. You are definitely in good hands with Mrs. Fitzgerald!

The counselor is always encouraging to not only schedule sessions but will answer any questions you have or send her. After a certain amount of time she will also check on you and make sure everything is going well. She listens and gives great exercises to help instead of just telling you what needs to be adjusted.
