Hi, my name is Ofori Asante and I am a licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and earned a Master’s in Counseling and Sociology from Texas A&M University – Commerce.
I have been a licensed professional counselor for the past 10 years and my clinical background includes work with couples, adolescents, and families. I have been married for the past eight years and have two beautiful children. My primary research interest includes marital satisfaction in intercultural couples. I have vast experience working with those who suffer from depression, self-esteem, and anxiety. I also have a wealth of experience working with those struggling with, phobias, self-worth, poor relationships, and grief.
My focus in marriage counseling is to identify strength of the marriage, resolves conflicts and problems, acknowledging past hurts, traumas, and inside and outside influences that has affected the marriage.
I completed my doctoral education in Texas A&M University – Commerce looking at marital satisfaction among Filipino Americans and European Americans in intercultural marriages.
Some of the major approaches used includes Cognitive behavior therapy, emotionally focused, and pact theoretical approach.
I was the Truax Scholarship recipient in 2005 and the outstanding master’s level student in the department of Counseling Texas A&M University – Commerce in 2003 and 2005 year.
Being practical in therapy, I tend to have encourage clients do outside work to enhance the therapeutic process. My approach to treatment is an integrative approach so using other approaches are also considered. These approaches tend to allow for greater and longer lasting change.
