About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Michigan and Missouri with over a decade of experience specializing in couples counseling and relationship therapy. My practice is enhanced by insights gained from my 10 years as an active-duty Navy veteran, where I served as both the Command Drug and Alcohol Program Advisor and a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Victim Advocate. Aside from work, I enjoy time with my husband, our 4 wonderful children, and loving on our pug, Miss Pearl.

My expertise includes helping couples manage communication issues, conflict resolution, intimacy concerns, stress, anxiety, coping with grief and loss, motivation, self-esteem, confidence, and navigating life transitions. I believe deeply that each partner is the expert of their own story, possessing numerous strengths that can empower your relationship to overcome challenges and thrive.

Choosing to seek counseling is a courageous step toward building a healthier, more fulfilling partnership. My role is to support and guide you both, providing personalized strategies aligned with your shared goals. Together, we will cultivate deeper understanding, strengthen your connection, and enhance your overall relationship satisfaction.

My approach integrates holistic and global philosophies, including restorative yoga, body-scan meditation, and pranayama, with evidence-based psychological frameworks like Aaron Beck's Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Marsha Linehan's Dialectical Behavior Therapy to reshape negative patterns.

Melissa has been great to me. She is very understanding and nonjudgmental. Which makes it easier to work with her.
